South Sound Dental Care has been serving Tacoma since 1985 — long before the city’s current growth and well before dental service organizations became the norm. What started as a neighborhood practice has grown into one of the region’s most recognized dental offices, not through expansion or acquisition, but through consistent, patient-centered care delivered year after year.
Dr. Moona Khan has been recognized as a Seattle Met Top Dentist in 2023, 2024, and 2025 — three consecutive years — and has previously received the Patients’ Choice Award for best Tacoma dentist. How We Practice Dentistry
We do not rush appointments or recommend treatment patients do not need. Our philosophy is built around transparency — about what we find, what we recommend, and what it will cost. We believe dental anxiety is real and deserves to be taken seriously, which is why a significant portion of our patients describe themselves as having been nervous or avoidant before finding this office.

Our Team
Dr. Moona Khan, D.D.S.
Dr. Khan earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and completed a hospital-based general practice residency at Northwestern University Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She is a graduate of the Kois Institute and has over 20 years of experience in Tacoma. Her approach centers on patient comfort, clear communication, and long-term oral health planning.
Dr. S. Preston Luce, D.D.S.
Dr. Luce earned his DDS from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry and went on to serve as a General Dentist in the U.S. Army Dental Corps from 2019 to 2024, completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. A Pacific Northwest native, he brings a broad clinical scope and a calm, methodical approach to patient care.
