Foods That Stain Your Teeth

A good rule of thumb is that if the food you’re eating can stain your clothes, it can also stain your teeth.  Unfortunately, for many of us, some of these foods and beverages are things we enjoy every day.  We don’t always spill our coffee, but we keep that stain stick in the car for a reason.  Just like we use the stain stick if our coffee gets on our clothes, it’s a good idea to brush or rinse your mouth after enjoying any of the following:

  • – Coffee
  • – Soda Pop
  • – Tea
  • – Wine
  • – Beets
  • – Blueberries
  • – Soy Sauce
  • – Tomato Sauce

According to the Mouth Healthy website by the ADA, these are the Top 9 Foods That Damage Your Teeth.

There are also some foods that have the opposite effect and actually prevent tooth stains.  And while these may not be on your daily consumption list, you might want to incorporate them a bit more:

  • – Apples
  • – Celery
  • – Cauliflower
  • – Carrots

  • – Drink with a straw
  • – Brush and floss daily
  • – Use mouth wash
  • – Get teeth professionally cleaned twice a year
  • – DO NOT smoke
